Risk factors of Chinese people with minor stroke: a meta-analysis

Objective

To comprehensively evaluate the risk factors of minor stroke in the Chinese population.

Methods

A meta-analysis was used to quantitatively analyze the results of domestic research on risk factors for minor stroke patients, and Stata12.0 software was used to perform heterogeneity test and the calculation of combined odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95%CI).

Results

The minor stroke was associated with cerebral artery stenosis, higher National Institutes of Health Stroke scale (NIHSS) score at admission baseline, and higher circadian blood pressure variability; OR (95%CI) was 6.257 (4.374-8.952), 5.852 (1.756-19.504), and 9.065 (1.385-59.335), respectively. The history of hypertension and smoking history was not found to be associated with minor stroke; OR (95%CI) was 1.287 (0.904-1.832) and 1.104 (0.781-1.559), respectively.

Conclusion

Cerebral artery stenosis, high baseline NIHSS score at admission, and large circadian blood pressure variability are important risk factors for the incidence of minor stroke in Chinese.
