Abstract:

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a clinical syndrome characterized by an increase of intracranial pressure and is accompanied by associated clinical symptoms and signs. Intracranial sinus stenosis is a rare cerebrovascular disease, and its exact etiology is unknown. A widely accepted academic view is that intracranial venous sinus vein stenosis is one of the causes of IIH. In multiple studies, 90% of patients with IIH have been confirmed to be with transverse sinus stenosis by magnetic resonance imaging. Its clinical manifestations are mostly related to intracranial hypertension, such as headache, papillary edema, blurred vision, and tinnitus. Nevertheless, a small number of patients with cerebral venous stenosis do not have IIH, and these patients have different characteristics from those with IIH. This article looked at the diagnosis and treatment of intracranial sinus stenosis and compared the differences between various treatments.

Key words: Cerebral vein stenosis, Intracranial sinus stenosis, Idiopathic intracranial hypertension
