Research progress in effects of carotid endarterectomy and carotid artery stenting in the patients with carotid artery stenosis on the treatment and prevention of stroke

Abstract

Abstract:

Cerebral ischemic stroke is one of the main causes of death, and ischemic stroke is related to internal carotid artery stenosis. The current treatment methods for carotid artery stenosis mainly include carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and carotid artery stenting (CAS), both of which are of great significance in the prevention and treatment of stroke. There has been a clinical controversy over the pros and cons of CEA and CAS in the prevention and treatment of stroke. This article reviews the effects of CEA and CAS in the patients with carotid artery stenosis on stroke.
