Abstract:

The morbidity, mortality, recurrence , and disability of the stroke are increasingly high, and the social burden is correspondingly heavy. To change this situation, the Ministry of Health established the National Brain Prevention Committee (SPTPC) in 2011. SPTPC released the project plan about the stroke center construction in 2016. Carotid cerebrovascular ultrasound is one of the important parts of the stroke center construction. It plays an significant role in identifying patients with the high stroke risk, diagnosing atherosclerotic diseases, intensive care ward, diagnosing patients with patent foramen ovale (PFO), monitoring microemboli, preoperative evaluation, intra-operative monitoring, and follow-ups of the carotid endarterectomy(CEA). However, due to the limited construction period, the homogenization level of carotid cerebrovascular cltrasound was low, and the conditions and levels among different medical institutions were quite different. The capacity of several hospitals was difficult to meet the clinical and patient needs. Therefore, according to the relevant SPTPC standards of the stroke center construction , the authors collected and analyzed the common issues of carotid cerebrovascular ultrasound in 21 tertiary hospitals and 32 secondary hospitals that participated in the on-site evaluation. The authors put forward the improvement plan, with a view of improving the quality of diagnosis by carotid cerebrovascular ultrasound and the construction level of stroke centers.
